Newsome Play Day 2018

Castle Community Hub played host to Newsome Play Day this year. The event had previously been held on Ashenhurst Recreation Ground, but the lure of indoor plumbing and shelter from the elements tempted the organisers to try out a new venue.

The day proved to be a big success, with a good turnout and glorious weather. The event was organised by Julie Stewart-Turner, chair of Newsome Ward Community Forum and was supported by several local community groups and organisations. West Yorkshire Police and Fire Service also put in an appearance.

There were activities for just about every age group – from messy play to a penalty shootout.  One of the most popular attractions was the water slide. It’s amazing how much fun can be had with a plastic sheet, inflatable rings, water and some washing up liquid!

This annual event takes place on the first Wednesday in August. We hope to be hosting it again in 2019, so watch this space.
